How Bright Is That Thing?

My new Vizio is so freakin' bright! It's like its own lamp in the room. It's the only source of light in this picture. I had it on the RGB setting while I was doing stuff on my computer.

I don't know why, but my hand or something is always blurry in a picture. I have shaky hands sometimes, so a steady picture is a rare thing. Sometimes I take up to 16 or 20 pictures to get the one I want (which usually ends up being the last one I take).

Don't ask about the pose, it was just meant to be corny. I had another idea for today's picture, but it didn't pan out. It could, maybe. I have to wait and see, but either way, I'm cool with it happening or not.

I've become a fan of this film filter I've used on the past few pictures. It just give a slightly grainy or old look to a picture, and with the right picture, it could be very moody too. But sometimes, as in this case with a fluorescent type lighting, it balances the warmth and coolness in a picture.

My friend got married today. I'm sad, and happy. I'm happy for her, but sad in knowing her friendship priorities will change. Not a husband/jealousy thing, but she has a person to give the majority of her attention to. However, I am super happy for her. I've known her since I was 23, and I'm 41 now. 18 years! That's amazing to me. We've seen the best and worst of each other, and we've both tolerated each other (she more on me, than reverse). Amazingly, she turned 50 this month, last week, and had never been married in her life, NEVER been with a man either. EVER. That, in itself, is amazing. She truly waited until marriage, and was fine with that. I guess I've slept with enough people to make up for her not having to be one of those types of girls. She married a French guy, and I think they'll be stunningly awesome together. I refuse to let her drift away like married friends can do. They say they'll keep in touch, but eventually, they don't. I think this friend will be different. She's strong w/ her friendships, and I've certainly put in some face time with her over the years. Congratulations to her, and him.

Vizio Heaven

I know I'm a little blurry in this, but I was a bit off kilter taking the picture. Here's why.

So Christmas came early this year, and it came hard, and fast, like a dog in heat. My friend shows up, and says "I have your Christmas present in the car, and I can't leave it in there. Do you want it now?" Um...do I want it now? IS THERE ANY OTHER TIME? Has he met me??? Of course I want it now! So he makes me close my eyes, and I hear him dragging something into the house. While he was outside getting it, I had a thought, "Oh my heavens, he's going to get me a television!" I don't know why I thought that, but I did. I hoped, sort of, that I was wrong. So I hear him drag something into the house, and he says "Open your eyes." Voila...a 37" Vizio Class LCD HD Television. I was just mad at him for spending that kind of money. I told him I'd rather him spend it on himself. He said he had it, and wanted to get me something. I did question him, because I knew Target had a deal where if you bought a Vizio LCD, you got a Vizio BluRay as a bonus. He said he didn't do that. No biggie.

Fast forward an hour, and he is here, and runs outside to do something. When he comes back in, he has a Vizio BluRay player in his hand! He said he actually forgot he had it in the car, because he was concentrating on pulling in the television. WELL SHIT! Now I have a new Vizio TV and a Vizio BluRay player! I just didn't know what to say, and was flabbergasted at the whole thing. I still kind of am speechless. I put the television in its spot, hooked my AppleTV to it, as well as the BluRay. I need another HDMI cable, so the AppleTV is Component (red, blue, green) corded for now. Oddly, the Apple store sells really cheap Belkin HDMI cables, compared to the expensive, and wallet robbing, techniques in pricing that places like Best Buy engage in. I don't have the cable hooked into it yet. I have to run a cord through a wall, but it can be done, it was just late when I got the television in its place, finally.

I'm really grateful for the gifts, and there's no way I could ever top THAT! I need to do a little finagling of cords in my soundboard mixer to get some better sound on it. Vizio's are great televisions, but their on board speakers blow monkey balls.

Huey Lewis & The News - FORE!

1. "Jacob's Ladder" (Bruce Hornsby, John Hornsby) – 3:33
2. "Stuck with You" (Hayes, Lewis) – 4:29
3. "Whole Lotta Lovin'" (Colla, Lewis) – 3:30
4. "Doin' It (All For My Baby)" (Cody, Duke) – 3:39
5. "Hip to Be Square" (Gibson, Hopper, Lewis) – 4:05
6. "I Know What I Like" (Hayes, Lewis) – 3:59
7. "I Never Walk Alone" (Nielsen) – 3:44
8. "Forest for the Trees" (Fletcher, Gibson, Lewis, Loggins) – 3:28
9. "Naturally" (Colla, Lewis) – 2:52
10. "Simple as That" (Biner, Castillo, Kupka) – 4:27
The European and Japanese version had "The Power of Love" (from Back to the Future) as track 8, pushing the other three tracks down a notch in sequence.

While Huey and the band had released two albums between 1980 and 1982, it wasn't until 1983 that they had a huge note of attention with the release of Sports. The singles and the videos kept coming through 1984. Sports went 7x platinum, and back then, that was fantastic! It's since received Diamond status. They had a slew of Top 10 hits, and their first #1 with that album. But it wasn't the apex. It was the warm up, the pre-show, if you will.

While riding the wave of "The Power of Love" and "Back In Time" from the Back To The Future movie in 1985, the next year saw the parade of FORE!. It was truly packed with hits, yet it only garnered 3 million in sales. This tragedy in pop music was odd to me. A great band, who played and wrote their music, along with other great songwriters like Kenny Loggins and Bruce Hornsby, and Reed Nielsen of Nielsen/Pearson fame. Yet despite the 3 million sales mark (which is still respectable), the album still garnered three #1 hits ("Stuck With You", "Hip To Be Square", and "Jacob's Ladder"), and a bunch of top 10 hits. Huey and the News were still going strong.

A very cute and funny take on Frankenstein's monster was the muse for the "Doin' It All For My Baby", and they did quite well. Each character was perfectly matched to the band member playing it. A 3-hour tour trapped on an island was the setting for the big hit of "Stuck With You". (Imagine a video actually going with the story of the song?! GO FIGURE!) "Hip To Be Square" proved just that, with close up camera shots of the band while they simply performed the song. Snake eye camera shots on Huey's microphone, or on the bass player's hand, were the norm.

Huey and the News went on to record four more studio albums through 2001, which is a bit sparse for most fan's taste.

I much prefer FORE! over Sports. Every single song is so solid, catchy, and flows perfectly into the next. It was truly the height of their creativity and talent. That's not to dismiss Small World, Hard At Play, or Plan B or their album of old 50's covers Four Chords and Several Years Ago (which is SO spot on with their style and attitude).

FORE! just stands out as one of the truly great, and dare I say it PERFECT pop/rock albums of the 80's, and greatly overlooked as such.

* * * Single Pick Of The Day: "Naturally". Nothing fancy, just pure vocal talent, showcasing their talent in an a capella song. No auto-tune or vocoders here!!!! * * *

Yes, I really do have a stalker. I have for about five years, and it's always ongoing. Here's what spawned me to say something about it.

Recently an online person I'm acquainted with sent me an email with the subject line asking "Is this REALLY you?". The body of the email asked, "I would imagine if this is REALLY you and this REALLY happened you would do everything in your power to get out of this situation... Seriously!" I read the following and found it hysterical, but typical. Read it first, then I'll explain.
Of course, everyone knows I live for christ. Sorry I took so long in responding, I've been in and out of the Chiropractor's office since I hurt my back during my fight with my roommate ,. Too make a long story short, he returned from his visit with his dying father to find me in his room sleeping w/my pussies (lol, no not THAT pussy) and of course blew his fucking stack! but I'm like what the fuck, it's fucking hot up in here and his is the only room w/air conditioning so what's the big deal? He swears there was cum stains on his sheets and carpet.... anyway he comes in at about a quarter past 1:am, and starts smacking the shit out of me while I'm sleeping SCREAMING at the top of his lungs! Now mind you I'm fucking naked as that's how I sleep, and of course when you're awakened by a crazy motherfucking bi-polar bitch-- slapping, punching and elbowing you, you're gonna let something out of an orifice; I fucking shit his bed. I thought it was a nightmare. At one point he actually jammed his fist between my ass cheeks like he was trying to fist me, accusing me of doing it on purpose, and I thought he was fucking around, you know how sometimes someone is just fucking around too aggressively and it seems more like a passive aggressive thing? Remember that I'm half awake at this point so I'm a bit disoriented. And as ya'll know we've gone at it before, and I don't hold back when I get pissed. I scratched his whole face up, bit his ear, shoved my dirty foot in his mouth, which of course he bit, then I had him pinned up against the wall but he somehow managed to knock me back against his dresser.....fucked up my back. He had the grit to drag me out of his room while I was writhing in pain! and then throw my fucking cats out into the living room damn near sending them into the ceiling fan. I wonder how Prince's hows are going in th UK. This is costing me an arm and a nut since my insurance only covers 50%. Plus I had to take one of my cats to the vet; he's got a fucked up equilibrium now. I'm gonna take care of my roommate, I swear to god, I ain't gonna let this shit ride, not this time. Fuck I was only in his room for a week!

Anyway Richie, I gotta go. The ass should be back in a few and I don't wanna see his face until I've worked out what I'm gonna do to him. Oh, and he actually tried to delete all my videos and shit off my MAC, and delete my YT and myspace accounts LOL he's such a fag.... can't even do that right.

East Greedbush, NY

Can we even notice that there is no East GREEDbush, New York? hahahaha When I asked the person where they found this, they said they found it on a newsgroup, alt.music.prince. I immediately knew what was up. alt.music.prince is a text newsgroup, which is sort of message board. Newsgroups were around in the very, VERY early days of the internet, eons ago. alt.music.prince is obviously a newsgroup about Prince. Back in the late 90's and early 00's, it was a good place to be, with lots of Prince information, as well as great chatter about other music, movies, or whatever. There were a lot of regulars there, and we all got along for the most part. But then the trolls showed up. A couple of us had the pleasure of having stalkers. Stalkers to the point that they would change their display name to ours, or something similar, and pose as us online. I got the biggest brunt of it. They'd spell my last name in different ways, like "Sewer" (boring), or "Sevvell" to appear as Sewell.

This drip of slime has been really harsh in their addressing of people on alt.music.prince. When they referenced "Richie" in the above nonsense, it's about a man in Ireland (remember, this troll/poser/stalker has never met any of us, nor have we interacted with them beyond alt.music.prince). Richard lives with Crones Disease. The stalker, posing as me, said that Richard had died of AIDS, and that I gave it to him. It was good for them because Richard had long left alt.music.prince, so his absence fed into his "death". How pathetic of the cocksnot who wrote it. Also, I've never met Richard, obviously since I've never been to anywhere in Europe, or even close to Europe, in my life. It was horrible, because Richard was a good guy from what I knew of him, and to my knowledge, he's still alive and well, despite his disease. It was vicious for no good reason other than the joy of a probable middle-aged man sitting in his mom's basement, in his underwear which are stained with Cheeto dust, as is his Wii and PS3 controllers, and in the corner is a pile of empty Dr. Pepper bottles, all the while posing as me, and trying to inflict heartache and pain on innocent people. Someone needs a life! BIG TIME!

There is absolutely nothing true in the above stalker's post, not even the details they put in. Literally.....NOTHING. Plus, I mean come on people. Look at the spelling and grammar alone. Although I slip up at times, that is not how I type or speak online, at all. It's like some 7th grader did it. Comical. I'm kind of surprised that after five years, this nonsense is still going on. What a waste of time! I saw one of the recent stalker posts, and they even took the time to check my YouTube page, and type my letter to CNN, seen here, and then alter it to sound more "controversial", and haughty. It's almost satire at this point. The slimeball's posts don't really effect me. I don't think about them or read them or keep up with them. I'm only reminded of them on the very rare occasion that someone asks me "is this you?" I can at least appreciate someone coming to me to ask if it's me or not, rather than assuming it is me. My mom emailed me a few years ago because she was googling me (WHY?) and found some racist laden post on a message forum on some website. The N word was dropped, along with other horrible statements. My mom emailed me, not too concerned but curious, and asked if it was me. I told her just to look at the original poster's email. It was the same IHateWhiteComedian@hotmail.com, which is obviously not me. The "issue" was resolved faster than it was brought up.

For the record, my main hub has been, and will probably always be, LJ.

If that ever changes, I'll post it on LJ first. Anything else anyone reads or says about me isn't real unless I say so. And isn't it that way with anyone?

Watch. That loser will read this, and post another version of it on the newsgroup. It's weird because there's like 3 people on alt.music.prince, and the rest is just spam that shows up. Who exactly are they trying to talk to anyway??? Prince fans are some weird motherfuckers sometimes.

High Shy

This picture didn't come out how I wanted when I took it. For whatever reason, it was greatly over exposed. It did two shots in a row on my 10 second timer. For some reason, this one was weird. But I thought...Hmmm, I can work with this! So I did, and this was the result. The name is a play on "high key", since it's over exposed, and "shy" because my original intent was to look like the paparazzi were after me.

Double dose.

I kind of lifted this idea from iechine's recent picture. I'm not trying to copy him. (I'm really not, Z.) It's just that sometimes, inspiration or an idea hits you from out of the blue. His double peace sign made me think, not about the world, but rather, about me. I only wish I had his body, and his mind set and his determination. (The body image alone would have dictated that I'd have probably done less cropping in the photo of myself! HAHA) Of course he's training to be a Navy Seal, which I think is brilliant, and brave, and a bit insane. I wish I had the foresight in my 20's to work out and keep fit. I lost 80lbs while in bootcamp. I went in at age 18, weighing about 250. I had to lose weight just to get at the maximum weight allowed. I wasn't HUGE, I was just bigger than I should have been. When I left Navy bootcamp two months later in April 1987, I was a svelte 170, and had turned 19 as well. I maintained at about 180 through my short Navy career, and even after I was about 180 or 190. Not bad for a guy 6' tall. 170 gave me a 34" waist. 180 was a 36", which I was happy and comfortable with.

Over the years, I've gained and lost weight, through whatever circumstances (rarely through actual trying either way). I had vowed I wanted to be a better person by the time I hit 40. Yet when 40 rolled around, I had given up on working out. I was so BORED with it. I had stopped for a few months, then got a new fire in me, and was going to Planet Fitness with a friend. Then the friend wanted to go alone, and I was out of a workout partner. So, I just quit. Partly out of anger at the situation, partly out of frustration of not getting to where I wanted to be fast enough. Two years, and I was still over 300 lbs. Of course I started at much more, but I should have been smaller by the time I quit. It's hard to maintain the "F the World" stance and pretend you're okay with who you are. There is some part of you that is okay with it. It's who you are, and that is your square one every day. Yet there's another side that constantly yearns for a smaller waist, a better job, a nice home, better friends, or whatever the case may be.

When I see Iechine say he wants to dedicate his 20's to all things physical and athletic, I think......"SHIT! Why didn't I do that?!" Even at 25, I was still feeling like a scared kid inside. I was never taught to be independent when I was a child, but rather to always feel like I had to ask someone's permission, or look over my shoulder for folk's response to anything I did. It took me years to get past that. It wasn't until I was in my early 30's that I came out of that. But even when I was in a serious relationship, I still had a small part of me that felt like I had to ask permission or get approval in some fashion before I did things. I've never truly been comfortable doing things withOUT worrying about what people say. I strive for that, but there's still a nag in me that keeps me divided.

I fear having a mid-life crisis. I don't want to be that guy. I'll be 42 in March 2010, and I need new direction. I need more than to just have a job and a home. I need something to DO, something to BE. I don't care about having a "career". Sure I want to make money, but my joy comes in things that I might not make money in. A job for me is a cash cow, not my identity. Isn't it odd when you asking someone who they are, they always tell you their occupation first? Or even "what do you do?" "Oh, I'm an accountant". BORING. If someone gets fulfillment from numbers, more power to them. The point is what do you DO in life. A job is 40 hours a week. There are 168 hours in a week. So what are you doing the other 128? I do recognize it's a bit of a trick question, too. People like Lance Armstrong can fully answer "I'm a cyclist", and have an answer that not only compasses his occupation, but also his passion, his love, and what he does every day. Ask Charlie Gibson what he does. "I'm a journalist." It's what he loves, and what he makes money at, simultaneously. Yet when we answer "Oh, I work at Blue Cross," we are defining ourselves by our jobs, not our souls, nor our passions, or our spirit inside. We've lost ourselves in our aim to make more money, have more things, and gain more shit. If I could make money writing music, or selling my book, or whatever the things I enjoy doing, then great. It's that old addage of "Find something you love to do, and you'll never work again". The money becomes secondary at that point, instead of the focus. It's a bit like Star Trek isn't it? That future showed us that money wasn't the goal. It was knowledge. It was personal empowerment. It was being an individual. It was growing and learning and finding your niche in the world to the point you were appreciated for what you did, but that appreciation didn't determine your self-worth. It's all a bit Utopian, I know, but it's a good idea, regardless.

The double dose of peace signs in the photo is just that. Inner and outer peace. The ying to the yang. It's about balance. I'm just a bit off kilter these days, for now.

Hey, stop that!

Yes, the picture is late. This is Sunday's picture, but it's just now getting uploaded. I've just been lazy, and a bit Blu-Ray preoccupied these past few days. I wanted to experiment with a few different film filters in Paint Shop Pro X2. I like this one. It has a harsher look, but still has warm tones. Reminds me a bit of the Saw movies, with the harsh lighting, green tinge on everything, and of course the face of anger or despair when one finds themselves chained to a buzz saw with 60 seconds to save their world.

Upside down.

It's a lazy day today. I picked up two Blu-Rays last night. George Michael Live In London, and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. I watched GM last night, and watched T3 today. Both are great, but I loved the GM DVD. I love GM anyway, and I'm SO glad he finally released a concert tour on video (and he said this would be the only concert he released in its entirety, ever).

I think later I might be watching Harry Potter & The Half-Blood Prince on Blu-Ray with a friend. It's sure to be a long movie. I'm enjoy the added benefits and features of a Blu-Ray BDLive-ready player. I'm anxious to watch the season finale of Dexter, and Californication on Showtime.

I actually took this picture with the camera behind me, shooting down toward my face from behind. I debated for a while whether to flip the photo (as you see it), or leave it in it's original perspective. I went for this. It's odd, when you flip the picture, it presents itself as the camera bring more in front of (and still hovering over) me.

....is positively one of the best voices in the industry. I picked up his "Live In London" Blu-Ray today. It was filmed for his 25Live tour, on the last two nights in London. I'll try to keep each song's high points to a minimum.

The 45 minute documentary on the DVD is worth the effort alone. Called "I'd Know Him A Mile Off!" is a great look behind the scenes of the tour, the interviews, the rehearsals, the sound checks, and him constantly hopping into the back of a car to get to, or leave the venue, sitting on planes w/ his partner Kenny Goss, and even a funny moment at one of their homes, where Kenny (who I always forget is SO southern, as he is from Texas) is explaining that George likes a more minimal and modern look to the furniture in the house, whereas Kenny wants a big couch to curl up on. Looks as though GM got his way. Also in the docum, at one check point, the security guards, who have blocked off an avenue, says they won't let his car through. The driver, and a manager, tell the security police that GM is in the backseat. With a glance, GM is dismissed as "a look-alike". He walks off. Finally the manager gets out of the car and insists they get through. The security guard walks up to the car and demands I.D. The manager pushes him back. Security looks in the car and says, "I'd know him a mile off. That is not George Michael." GM is hysterical, calling the whole incident "brilliant" (and it really is!) GM wanted to stay to show them I.D., just for the sheer sake of filming it and capturing a great moment on film. They drive through the check point, and the camera catches the security guy flipping off the car, with GM in it. haha

As far as the concert, every song is spot fucking on. He starts with "Fastlove", using the extended mix in a slightly shorter form. The extended mix uses a different chorus later on, singing "Everybody needs a little fast love, baby....", and then has a chant of "who da man, who da man, who da man, goddamn!", and then goes into a funk ridden version of "I'm Your Man". As the song ends, GM says "I wouldn't do that to you. You didn't think it was over did you?" and goes into the regular version of "I'm Your Man". The energy stays high during "Flawless", and even he jokes that "this is probably the gayest cover I've done". (I guess he called it that because it's heavily based on The Ones song "Flawless"). He slows it down for a bit, and during "Father Figure" and "You Have Been Loved", his voice is so pure and spot on!!! He's right in the middle of his 40's, and he's still one of the best voices in the industry.

He pumps it back up with "An Easier Affair", name checking Rupert Murdock at the beginning of it, and quickly mentions it's about living your life, and not giving a fuck (his favorite word apparently) about what anyone says. The lyrics say that too of course. I love that song, and have since it came out on the TwentyFive CD/DVD set. He gets into "Everything She Wants" and the audience goes wild for it! Slow down again with "One More Try", which is just him and the six backup singers standing in a squared U shape, singing the song in a near gospel style, and knocking it out of the arena. He sits, and people go nuts when they hear the first notes of "A Different Corner". Voice again, spot on. He gets political with "Shoot The Dog", and plenty of anti-George Bush/Tony Blair animation (from the video), as well as a huge inflatable of GW. GM runs up to it and pulls open the front of his pants. Out pops a huge English bulldog, locked snout to crotch on GW's front side. (Tony Blair sucking GW's dick, in case you didn't get that.) He also gives a huge shout out to Barack Obama.

There is a 20 minute intermission, but we only see 5 minutes of it. He plays the video of "John and Elvis Are Dead", then immediately the stage lights up and "Faith" starts to ring out. Next is rather interesting. He sings "Spinning The Wheel", which is a song I missed early on, but caught it a few years after. Once the song is over, he goes into a deep club mix of the song, and resings the whole song as a remix. The light show is fucking amazing during this song alone.

He sits down to sing again. He talks about the footage the audience is about to see, and how they filmed it for this song in the show. He said the women in it are not models, but real people, and were gracious enough to let a crew invade a few moments of their lives. They are prostitutes in a brothel (much like the actual video to the song). He sits and sings "Roxanne", explaining that he did a cover album when he was having a hard time writing music. It's his favorite song on the album. He dedicates "My Mother Had A Brother" to his late mother, and his uncle (her brother). He then dedicates "Amazing" to his partner Kenny Goss (who it's written about), and to their friends Gary and Gary's partner, who are both in the audience somewhere.

He sings "Fantasy", which I only know from Ladies and Gentlemen, The Best Of, which might be its only album. He continues with one of three encores, the first being "Outside", which includes a cop's sunglasses, and uniform top. The next encore is "Careless Whisper", which the audience damn near provides vocals to make it a duet. The last song is "Freedom '90" which the audience loves as well. The three bonus tracks, listed below, are just as incredible.

GM mentions at one point that this is the longest show of the tour, but the audience has made it worth it. The show itself seems to be about 2:10, plus the three bonus tracks, which levels out closer to 2:25-2:30.

The DVD is a MUST for any GM fan. GM stated this would be the only show he would release in its entirety (which SUCKS), but even though it's the only one, it's SO worth the effort to find it. There are no other features on the DVD, other than what I've already listed. There are 3 audio tracks, including PCM, DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio, and Dolby Digital 5.1. The Pop-Up Menu feature is available on the Blu-Ray, which is the "Performances" menu, over the concert, opposed to the Main Menu wallpaper. It's in full 1080 HD as well.

Also, there are several shots of GM changing clothes in the quick change room between songs. That man is still hot, shirtless, and otherwise. He obviously dropped a bit of weight for the concert tour, but his freakin' hot chest hair is all still freakin' hot on him. Also, apparently GM likes a diet/caffeine free coke and Tanq right after the show (it's in the car waiting on him to pour it).

Track list (copied from Wikipedia):
1. "Waiting (Reprise)" (Michael)
2. "Fastlove" (Michael/Rushen/McFadden/Washington)
3. "I'm Your Man" (Mihcael)
4. "Flawless (Go To The City)" (Michael/Alexander/Wooden/Turnier/Matthew/Stumm)
5. "Father Figure" (Michael)
6. "You Have Been Loved" (Michael/Austin)
7. "An Easier Affair" (Michael/Cushnan/Ambrose/Flynn)
8. "Everything She Wants" (Michael)
9. "One More Try" (Michael)
10. "A Different Corner" (Michael)
11. "Too Funky" (Michael)
12. "Shoot The Dog" (Michael/Flynn/Jackman/Oakey/Burton)
13. "John and Elvis Are Dead" (Michael/Austin)
14. "Faith" (Michael)
15. "Spinning the Wheel" (Michael/Douglas)
16. "Feeling Good" (Bricusse/Newley)
17. "Roxanne" (Sting)
18. "My Mother Had a Brother" (Michael)
19. "Amazing" (Michael/Douglas)
20. "Fantasy" (Michael)
21. "Outside" (Michael)
22. "Careless Whisper" (Michael/Ridgeley)
23. "Freedom 90" (Michael)

There are three bonus tracks on the regular DVD set (2nd disk), and on the BluRay:
* "Precious Box" (Michael)
* "Jesus To A Child" (Michael)
* "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" (McCall)

The only low point to the DVD is knowing its the only concert he'll ever release. But I'm happy w/ this one.

Keep an eye on the graphics on the huge ass LED screen he's on. There are often times red, blue, yellow, green, purple, and orange lines/shapes on the screens. Each one is a direct feed from different audio feeds, and each one reacts to that feed. GM's is red, the drums are blue, the background vocals are green, etc. So with each song, not only does the actual pattern they've programmed change, but the reaction of each one is different. "Outside" is really good with this. The graphics are 2D flyovers of LA, and the skyscrapers have the colors in them. There was a huge write up on GM's site about the technology used in the concert that had never been used before. That alone is amazing too.

Bent and Spent!

I thought the title was funny. I put away the extra decorations a couple of nights ago, so no more Rubbermaid crates sitting around the house, cluttering shit up. I hate clutter! The sun was shining in the window and it just had a very warm tone to it. So I quickly set up my little camera and snapped a couple of shots. It's a tad blurry, and I'm not sure why. Maybe it was trying to focus on the champagne bucket more than me, or it could have been "low lighting", although my ISO was set at +2.0. I did a bit of Paint Shop Pro enhancement, but not a lot. I liked the picture for the most part on its own. I went shirtless, just to tease those blind enough to think I'm handsome or something (although I've yet to find those people).

I uploaded a lot of pictures of the trees and the decorations, so go back a few pictures and check them out in my stream. There's a set called Christmas 2009 that houses them all. Part of me doesn't even care if there are presents under the trees. I just like that there are lights, glitter, and some holiday bling hanging around for a few weeks.

Clean pipes.

I have no idea why I grabbed the plunger for this picture. Just seemed...quirky or different.

You know, when I take these close up pictures, and I do a High Pass Sharpen, and I see the detail of my face, and the scars I have from 30 years ago, I can't really wonder why I never have a date, or a partner. Who'd wanna wake up next to all that mess? I get it. I understand my spot in the world. I wasn't blessed with great looks, a great body, straight teeth, blue eyes, perfect chest hair, or any of that. I think it's why I'm always cracking jokes, and making funnies. If people laugh with me, they're less prone to laugh at me, most times. I even airbrush out a few very, very tiny moles on my neck in almost every picture, including this one. They're not huge or anything, but I notice them. I once knew a guy who said he hated skin tags. That pretty much solidified never getting with him.

I had thought about doing a 52 week project next year, taking close up shots of different parts of my body, just to celebrate how we're all difference, right down to the freckles, the moles, the skin tags, the hair follicles, etc. Sometimes I rethink it. Just not sure about it yet.

Rubber Neckin'.

Listen, when you're hours late on your 365, you look for inspiration anywhere. It's not a copy cat thing. We're all pulling from other sources at times, some more than others, but all in all, it's about iron sharpening iron.

Now while this isn't some mind blowing photo, it is inspired by MichBaldwin's recent photo. Just seemed like an easy idea. But I think he wins in the "good neck" department. My neck hair grows weird apparently, or I just missed some spots while shaving the other day. Eh, I am who I am.

Decor-hated

If I never see another decoration again, it'll be too soon. I don't know why I do this to myself every year. I put up everything I can, and then just collapse. Taking it down goes rather quickly it seems. It's the putting it up that ranks as slow. I put up the other two trees today. I keep finding new ornaments I bought last year during the last grasp 90% off sale at Target.

I had about 10 or 11 boxes of the 9-count mini ornaments you see in the background. I decided I didn't have room for them all (I already used two boxes on a mini 2' tree on the buffet), so I dumped the rest of them into this glass champagne bucket. (Seems appropriate since the tree is champagne color.) I thought they were the shatter proof kind, but alas, they are glass, and as I was tossing them about with my hand to mix them up thoroughly, I broke a couple. No biggie. I still have 253,285 of them left, approximately.

But the final two trees are up, and the decorating is all but done at this point. There is still some decorations in boxes, but just no where to put them all.

One of my trees is a bit different. I have two 6' Randolph Pine fake trees. I do one with purple/gold and the other with red/gold. Both have clear lights, a spinner ornament, and other misc things to keep it interesting. I decorated the purple/gold one and it was fine, although I felt like I had a lot of gold ornaments for some reason. I opened the 2nd crate, which was supposed to hold the red/gold ornaments, and accessories, and no gold. I had dumped them all in the purple/gold crate last year. Oh well, no biggie. But then as I was testing lights, I had a strand bite the dust on me. So I had to stretch what I had. I put 200 clear and 200 green on the red tree. It still looks good, and even more Christmas like with the green and clear lights, and all red ornaments. I always forget I have a black Santa tree topper. I put him on the tree, and had a laugh. (I'm obviously not black, but my friend Pam is, and she thinks it's hysterical that I own that.)

I was in a rush to get all this done because a friend is suddenly coming to dinner tomorrow, and I wanted all this crate mess cleaned up. Now it is, and I can successfully collapse for the night (although I have Men Of A Certain Age on DVR which I plan to watch in a few moments).

This picture is very late, as it's Tuesday's picture, but it's 90 minutes into Wednesday at this point. Deal with it.

This picture is also inspired by, and sorta dedicated to Michael Baldwin, who did a similar picture here, for this Day 125. I was planning on going for a more direct inspirational picture, but this is what I came up with instead.

Tree hugger.

I took some tree pictures this evening. I realized one 2' tree in a corner has yet to have decorations. I'll have to spruce it up before I take another picture. I also took some close up pictures of some cooler ornaments I have on the tree. ALL of the Christmas pictures are coming up in the next day or so.

I kind of enjoyed the light flare that reflected back onto my lip, so I left it.

Up Close Teaser, originally uploaded by Ernest L Sewell, IV.

This is just a quick close up shot of the tree. A bit of a teaser, if you will. Check the picture for notes.

The tree is a golden "champagne" (the official color). The ornaments are a more burnt/darker red, dark amber, and gold. Very sparkly. The ribbons I cut myself. they're a burnt burgundy with gold detail.

I'll have a more well lit picture, and detailed picture soon, once I know it's how I want it. But I think it's pretty much done.

Just here.

It's been a day of decorating, and a lot of nonsense, which I won't go into. I'm just spent at this point. You know, tired, blank, and ready for bed. The Christmas tree looks good, and I'll be uploading pictures soon of it. But for now....I'm looking forward to the new pillows I bought the other day. They're good, and I slept really well last night.

So Many Choices!

I finally got out of the house today after being sick forever. Just errands to Target, to see a friend, to the miserable place known as Wal-Mart, then to get dinner. I'm enjoying a spanking new Blu-Ray player this evening. I already had Bolt and Purple Rain on Blu-Ray, but picked up Terminator:Salvation and Terminator on Blu-Ray as well. A friend got Star Trek and a couple of others. It's been quite interesting with the BD Live content available with a Blu-Ray player.

I've also been working on the Christmas tree. It's coming along nicely. I still have two others to put up at some point, and go help a friend decorate their office. Pictures to come!

This is late uploading just because of company, the tree, the Blu-Ray, etc. But this is Saturday's picture. I can't believe I have so few to go. I think about 24, and I'm done! IDEAS!?!?!?! I'll do almost anything to cap off the 365 project, so let me know!
